Reading this book reminded me of why I'm so fond of contemporary fiction. There are so many niche genre books flooding the market right now that sweet, well told, and rich character stories, like this one, sometimes get lost in the shuffle. And that's a shame because as readers our most basic need is to connect with the characters and this story delivered on that beautifully. There is a nice romantic element to the book as well but for me, this was a story about a young woman's journey to find out who she was and who she wanted to be. There were bumps in the road, yes, but by relying on that which we all need, but often under appreciate, she made it through in one piece. Family. Is there anything more important or more taken for granted?

It's what I loved so much in this story - that connection to family. A genealogy buff myself, I found I was keenly invested in Kara's search for truth and in how her family would react to their closets being opened and aired out. Jade Eby crafted a lovely story and really fantastic chemistry between her heroine and hero. I cuddled up to the fire with a hot mug of tea and my Kindle - and I didn't stop reading until the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes you just want to feel that you're spending the evening with family - that's how I felt about this story.

Kara and Vince are paired on a college project, but she was burned by him once before, Freshman year and isn't really ready to trust him. They follow a story back to her hometown and uncover a lot of secrets. Interesting read
I enjoyed this book. I liked the main character, Kara and her dysfunctional family, especially her Grandmother. The story is easy to follow and very good at holding your interest. Kara and Vince have a past and it didn't end nicely. When forced to work with him again Kara isn't happy. But there ends up being so much else going on, Vince soon finds a way to make amends. I will recommend this book and this author. I will be looking for more of her books to read.
I was so excited to see a new adult book that focuses on career rather than romance. I do love a good romance, but I'm so thrilled to see the new adult category expanding, and Jade Eby's THE RIGHT KIND OF WRONG is the perfect example of where I'd love to see it head.

As a journalist, I could relate to the protagonist, Kara, right away. She's driven and independent, and she clashes right away with her journalism project partner Vince, who I loved immediately. The family mystery was gripping, and I was completely caught off-guard by the twist.

Highly recommend this for fans of new adult books who are looking for something a little different!
I'll be honest I was a bit nervous to read Jade's book, The Right Kind of Wrong. Jade is a friend, co-worker and reading critic and I was afraid what would happen if I didn't like the book. I did get some early chapters a few months ago and was deeply intrigued to read more, but there was always this "What if...?" niggling at the back of my mind. I'm happy to report that I loved The Right Kind of Wrong!

As a midwestern girl, I could identify with Eby's main character, Kara, the setting in Iowa, the escape of going to a larger city far away and trying to start anew. As well as the wonder and comfort one feels upon returning home and thinking, "Why did I leave all this behind?" It was all right there. I could smell the apple pies cooling in the window and picture myself next to Kara on the porch swing sipping coffee in the chill of an early summer morning. I may have to make tator tot hotdish (or casserole, rather, for those of you not from Minnesota) soon.

As for the plot, it was well constructed and kept me turning the pages until all was revealed. There were no crazy bi-polar dudes acting all sweet one minute and uber-angry the next, no insta-love and just enough romance, and just enough plot clues to lead to you the reveal without giving too much away. And when I finished the last page i wondered, What trouble will Vince and Kara get into next?
I've been hearing good things about Jade Eby for a while so I decided to give her a try. I didn't read any of the synopsis' of her books just picked one based on the cover alone, and The Right Kind of Wrong was my choice. I enjoyed her writing style. It was easy to follow and kept me invested the whole way through.

This book follows the story of Kara. She is on a mission to become an investigative journalist. In order to do that she had to sacrifice a lot. She left her family behind in Iowa to pursue her dream in California. Standing in her way is a broody professor and the one guy who almost ruined her career before it started, Vince. I enjoyed how stubborn and similar they Kara and Vince are. They're both extremely strong willed and determined to get what they want. And they've also both suffered through their own share of pain and heartache.

Vince and Kara are forced to work together and get themselves into something much bigger than they intended. As the mystery unfolds and they spend more time together, they form a friendship of sorts. I really liked the playful banter between them even as Kara's world was unraveling. I also liked that they were able to set aside their differences long enough realize that they actually liked each other and get the project done. I also liked that their road wasn't easy but that they had to fight for it. That they fought with each other, for each other.

Overall, The Right Kind of Wrong was a quick, light and easy read. I was pulled in almost right away and all the twists kept me flipping the pages. Jade Eby wove a tale that took me back in time and kept me grounded in the present in equal measures. Some parts were so vividly brought to life, I could picture myself in the room. And that ending, perfectly Kara and Vince. I will for sure be going back and checking out some more work from this author.
